Popular Prakashan, will soon turn 90 years old and our pride remains the fact that our identity has been that each book we take on are carefully produced works of art. Our recent bestseller ‘The Live Well Diet’ book broke the mould of how diet books should be written. Co authored by Dr Sarita Davare and Sanjeev Kapoor this non-fiction book has been among the top-selling books in India for the last six months that it has been released. The book redefined the parameters of health and weight loss for Indians by helping the reader to make that lifestyle decision while showing them. That’s how we like to do our books.
Before this it was the watershed work of literary genius Bhalchandra Nemade with Hindu that made waves in the literary circles while staying in the bestselling list for months on end. Our star non-fiction authors are on their 23rd edition and we’ve kept their books on the top of college-prescribed books, year after year.
In 2013 Popular Prakashan continues to move from strength to strength. Our focus this year is to bring out the literary bests in Indian language in English, to focus on art publications and to place a spotlight on health and music. Our current list of star writers include Sandeep Goyal, Anjali Mukerjee, Milind Gunaji, Asha Khatau and of course Sanjeev Kapoor.
We are proud of every book we have taken on but a few of our authors that stand out are G.S. Ghurye, G.A. Kulkarni, D.D. Kosambi, Nelson Mandela, Jayprakash Narayan, Vijay Tendulkar, Vinda Karandikar, Gangadhar Gadgil, V.V. Shirwadkar, Bhalchandra Nemade, Amol Palekar, Amitabh Bachchan and Girish Karnad to name a few.
While not resting on our past laurels, we can’t help feeling proud of the fact that Popular is the first Indian publisher to take on medical and social sciences titles of Indian authors. It has to its credit the published works of eminent authors in the fields of politics, religion and culture, history and philosophy. We have also published high quality books on popular subjects like cookery, travels and cinema.

These books focus primarily on crucial and contemporary debates, grassroots movements, politics and culture as viewed from a critical and progressive standpoint.
As of now Popular Prakashan remains unrivalled for its cookery books.
